About the Role

Matchtech has partnered with BAE Systems, a leader in the Defence and Security sector, to find experienced Pipefitters to join their expanding team in Barrow‑in‑Furness.

This 12‑month contract offers competitive rates for both local candidates and those willing to commute. It's a fantastic opportunity to be part of a cutting‑edge project that's shaping the future of naval engineering.

Responsibilities

As a Pipefitter, you'll play a vital role within a specialist team, working on the latest generation of submarines, contributing to either the prestigious Astute or Dreadnought projects.

What will I be doing?

As a skilful Pipefitter, you'll shape essential piping and plumbing systems and make a real impact.

Experience & Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you'll need experience in:

  • Fabrication and Installation of Pipe Systems and Components, conducted in accordance with quality standards & regulatory requirements.
  • Manufacturing isometrics pipes / installing pipelines.
  • General Pipefitting/fabrication – Oil and Gas.
  • Working safely, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations & guidelines.
  • Following the relevant instructions, drawings and any other Quality Standards/Specifications.
Pay rates

BAE Systems offers a range of pay rates to contractors, depending on your shift allocation and travel distance to the Barrow site. For PAYE Contractors living within 39 miles of the Barrow base, please see the rates outlined below.

  • Local PAYE – Standard shift: £20.10 hourly, £2.92 holiday accrual (total £23.02).
  • Local PAYE – 3 on 4 off: £24.14 hourly, £3.51 holiday accrual (total £27.65).
  • Local PAYE – Night shift: £26.73 hourly, £3.89 holiday accrual (total £30.62).
  • Local PAYE – Weekday & Saturday overtime: £32.65 inclusive of holiday.
  • Local PAYE – Sunday overtime: £43.54 inclusive of holiday.
  • Non‑Local PAYE – Standard shift: £28.10 hourly, £4.09 holiday accrual (total £32.19).
  • Non‑Local PAYE – 3 on 4 off: £32.12 hourly, £4.67 holiday accrual (total £36.79).
  • Non‑Local PAYE – Night shift: £34.73 hourly, £5.05 holiday accrual (total £39.78).
  • Non‑Local PAYE – Weekday & Saturday overtime: £32.65 inclusive of holiday.
  • Non‑Local PAYE – Sunday overtime: £43.54 inclusive of holiday.
