Job description

Piano Tutor Wanted for Cheltenham's Newest Music Academy!

Ever feel like your teaching could use a bigger stage? We're not just opening a music school in the heart of Cheltenham this January; we're launching a movement. Picture this: a brand-new space, with an unwavering commitment to becoming the number one music school in the area.

We’re on the hunt for a passionate piano tutor who lives and breathes music. If you're ready to share your expertise, inspire future maestros of all ages and levels, and foster a fun & professional learning environment, then you might just be the one.

Whether you're a seasoned pro looking for a solid base, a new graduate eager to kickstart your career, or looking to bankroll your creative projects/studies, we offer a pathway to consistent income and a genuinely fulfilling teaching role. And for those with bigger ambitions? There’s scope to grow into a full‑time position.

What You'll Be Doing (The Good Stuff):

  • Crafting Musical Journeys: Design and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to each student’s unique goals and needs. Think personalised growth, not one‑size‑fits‑all.

  • Skill Cultivation: Guide students through the intricacies of their instrument, from sight‑reading to mastering complex musical concepts and diverse styles.

  • Performance Prep: Prepare students for everything from their first recital to exams and auditions, helping them shine when it matters most.

  • Feedback & Flourish: Consistently assess progress and provide the kind of constructive, inspiring feedback that truly helps students evolve.

  • Just Teach! Your primary focus? Delivering exceptional lessons. We handle all the financial admin, marketing, and client‑building. Just show up, teach, and watch your student roster grow.

Why Join Our Crew? (The Perks):

  • Competitive Pay: £23 per hour, fixed rate.

  • Flexible Schedule, Your Way: Set and manage your own hours based on demand, fitting perfectly with our opening times (Mon‑Fri 3‑8 pm, Sat 10 am‑4 pm). Ideally, you’ll be teaching at least a couple days a week.

  • All The Gear: High‑quality musical equipment and resources provided. You bring the skill, we bring the tools.

  • Growth & Ambition: Be part of an ambitious, forward‑thinking, and rapidly expanding music school. This isn’t just a job; it’s a chance to build something significant.

  • Your Personal Marketing Machine: We actively promote and advertise on your behalf, helping you build a solid student base and fill your teaching slots. Say goodbye to the grind of finding your own clients.

Who We're Looking For (The Essentials):

  • Instrumental Proficiency: Ideally, you’ll have a higher‑level college/university music qualification, Grade 7/8, or relevant gigging experience.

  • Adaptable Educator: The ability to teach a diverse range of ages and skill levels, adapting your methods to each student’s individual learning style.

  • Communication King/Queen: Clear, engaging communication skills that inspire confidence and build rapport.

  • Inspirational Spark: The genuine ability to motivate and ignite a passion for music in your students.

  • Positive Powerhouse: A can‑do attitude that’s infectious and contributes to a vibrant learning environment.

Bonus Points (The Desirables):

  • Previous teaching experience.

  • A current, enhanced DBS certificate.

  • Multi‑instrumental talents.

  • Solid sight‑reading skills.
