Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy team within NTIMS (North Tyneside Intermediate Musculoskeletal Service). The role will be based at North Tyneside General Hospital, but may involve working at other sites both within and external to the Trust within North Tyneside.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust manages three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country.

NTIMS is the musculoskeletal physiotherapy service provider in North Tyneside and is part of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. NTIMS is a partnership contract with Connect Health - the successful candidate will be employed by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. NTIMS clinics are based at primarily at North Tyneside General hospital but with clinics at GP practices across the North Tyneside region.

We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. Responsibilities
  • To be accountable to a specialist team leader and ultimately site manager
  • To work predominantly within an identified client group but be prepared to work flexibly across the service.
  • To assist physiotherapists in the treatment of their patients, working to defined protocols and treatment plans.
  • To assist a qualified Physiotherapist in the implementation of treatment programmes for individual patients or groups of patients.
  • To manage own caseload of non-complex patients, with support from qualified Physiotherapists to progress treatments appropriately.
  • To be competent in issuing walking aids and off the shelf splints.
  • To facilitate arrangement of appointments, transport and ordering of equipment.
  • To be responsible for the overall hygiene & maintenance of the department and equipment.
