Job summary

Job description
Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Physician Associate to work alongside our clinical team within the Paediatric Nephrology teams. This is a full-time substantive post (37.5 hours).

Responsibilities
  • Assess and examine patients, present findings, initiate and interpret investigations, and recommend treatment.
  • Provide clinical documentation and liaise with other professionals and specialties as required.
  • Work under supervision of a designated consultant with additional individual mentoring for career development.
  • Coordinate patients on ambulatory pathways related to the speciality and review ward patients to provide subsequent management in conjunction with the clinical teams.
  • Support the inpatient and outpatient nephrology service within the MDT, including reviewing and managing ward patients.
  • Assist in the Renal Support Unit, managing long‑term nephrology patients in outpatients and when admitted to the ward, rotating across main areas to develop sub‑specialty knowledge.
  • Provide telephone guidance and advice to the consultant team and MDT caring for long‑term renal patients across inpatients and outpatients.
  • Perform initial assessment for ambulatory patients presenting for nephrology care.
  • Complete full clerking of patients, including ordering appropriate investigations, interpreting findings, forming a list of differential diagnoses, and recommending treatment.
  • Maintain timely and appropriate documentation.
