A healthcare facility in Margate seeks a Phlebotomist to join their Nursing Team. Responsibilities include obtaining patient consent, performing venepuncture, and maintaining accurate records. We have an exciting opportunity which has arisen for a Phlebotomist to join the Bethesda Medical Centre in Margate, Kent. The Practice is ever growing within the local area has has approxiamately 19,800 patients .This is a permanent position to join our Nursing Team
Hours of work will be 19.5 per week -Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8am to 3pm with a half hour unpaid break on each day.
Obtaining patient consent for the collection of blood samples
Performing venepuncture in accordance with Practice Protocols
Maintaining accurate patient records on EMIS
The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
Working collaboratively with the Nursing Team ,seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters
Bethesda Medical Centre is a large surgery based on the cliff tops in Margate, Kent.
We have approxiamately 19,000 patients and have strong work ethics to provide good patient care through teamwork .You will be part of an established and professional nursing team, Acute Care Team, HCA's , GP's ,Frailty Team and Mental Health Nurses
Ensuring the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures
Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
Checking patient identification against Clinician request and confirming with patient
Recording of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure
Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashiom
Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a the Nursing Team Lead
Notifying the On Call GP of any significant patient issues
Liaising with and supporting members of the Reception and Administration Teams
