Job summary

A prominent healthcare provider in Birmingham is seeking a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to enhance patient-facing services and collaborate with healthcare teams. The ideal candidate will manage medicines, conduct patient counselling, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings. A valid BTEC & NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Science Certificate and registration with the GPhC are required. The position offers opportunities to work on late night and weekend rotas, contributing effectively to patient care.

Qualifications

  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC.
  • Experience of hospital electronic prescribing systems (desirable).
  • Experience of supervision and training of other pharmacy staff (desirable).

Job description
Overview

Band 5 Pharmacy Technician role to join the CF and Pharmacy Teams at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

This development role will improve patient‑facing services, collaborate closely with the CF team, and extend coverage to late night, weekend, and bank holiday rotas.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert medicines advice, medication reviews, counselling, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Work with the pharmacy homecare team and support registration of homecare for CF patients.
  • Complete medicines reconciliation and counselling for CF inpatients and outpatients.
  • Participate in the pharmacy late night, weekend, and bank holiday service as required.
  • Develop and enhance patient care and contribute to safe, effective, and cost‑efficient use of drugs within CF, including high‑cost drugs.
Qualifications

Valid BTEC & NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Science Certificate and registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC.
