Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Featherstone, a category C prison located in Wolverhampton. HMP Featherstone is a male prison with a population of 678 males; this is a training prison with a layout of 7 wings. You will be based in a team of 4 consisting of Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Assistants, with the pharmacy hatches based in the central area and on the wings.

Hours: This role is a permanent 37.5 hours per week covering shifts Monday – Sunday:

  • Monday – Friday 7.30am - 5.30pm
  • Weekends 8.30am - 5.30pm

Salary: This position is full time, with an annual salary between £27,247.00 - £32,346.00 per annum - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide outstanding quality based patient-centred care to our patients, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Focus on providing a safe and secure medicines management service, maintaining patient medical records to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care within the scope of professional standards, including timely administration of medicines and analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our health in justice medicines policy.
  • Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to make a real difference.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Up to date Continual Professional Development (CPD)
  • Relevant post-qualification pharmacy experience
  • General GCSE education or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment. Secure environments are challenging but rewarding for healthcare professionals seeking development in a dynamic setting.
