Job Overview

This role is for a Pest Control Officer to work within a small team to help provide a professional pest Control service to the Residents of Islington.

Main Duties of the job
  • Investigation and treatment of rodent and insect infestations in premises, including examination of drainage systems, disinfecting and deodorising, carrying out surveys, advising customers, and distribution of relevant literature.
  • Responsible for ensuring that persistent infestations are notified to the Pest Control Manager and to make, where necessary, recommendations as to future/alternative treatments.
  • Assisting in the initiation, development and execution of pest control initiatives.
  • Assisting with the upkeep of the pesticides store including the transfer of materials from point of delivery, sock taking and other similar matters.
  • Assist with training of other staff in pest control matters.
  • Assist with promoting new business the Pest Control Service.
Key responsibilities and Duties
  • Investigation and treatment of rodent and insect infestations in premises, including examination of drainage systems, disinfecting and deodorising, carrying out surveys and distribution of relevant literature.
  • Promote the Pest Control services for new business and refer sales enquiries to the Pest Control Manager/Surveyor.
  • Driving and maintaining a Council vehicle in accordance with the Staff Code and other approved practices.
  • Reporting to the Pest Control Manager defects in equipment, shortages of materials or defects in vehicles.
  • Preparation of job tickets, reports, and other documentation in relation to the work of the section.
  • Liaison with officers in other departments or within the department, or with other external groups and organisations, in relation to the work of the section.
  • Preparation reports and evidence required for legal action and attendance at Court where necessary.
  • Carry out occasional duties outside normal office hours as required.
  • Carrying out responsibilities/duties in accordance with any approved quality procedural documents.
  • To represent the Council in a professional manner when interacting with clients in the course of delivering Pest Control services.
  • To be responsible for carrying out surveys in accordance with agreed operational methods

Qualifications
  • E1 Applicants must hold a BPCA Operators certificate level 2 or a Royal Society of Health Pest Control certificate Application/Interview
Experience
  • E2 Experience in dealing with a wide range of Public Health pests. Application/Interview
  • E3 Knowledge and understanding of carrying out both commercial and residential pest control work. Application/Interview
  • E4 Have some experience in carrying pest surveys Application/Interview
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
