A local support service in the United Kingdom seeks a dedicated Personal Assistant to aid a young lady with mobility challenges in accessing the community. Responsibilities include assisting with toileting, providing companionship, and encouraging social interactions. A clean driving license is required. Ideal candidates are caring, responsible, and possess good local knowledge. The role involves flexible hours, ensuring the employer's safety, and maintaining compliant records.
A young lady with Spina Bifida & Hydro-cephalus which affects her mobility is looking for a Personal Assistant to help her access the local community for up to 14 hours per week.
She enjoys getting out of the house in her wheelchair to the beach or Burry Port or going to Carmarthen/Swansea shopping.
The Personal Assistant car would need to be big enough to carry her wheelchair in the boot also accessible for her to be transferred from wheelchair to car seat via a banana board.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
Providing support with toileting whilst out in the community.
Assisting on walks to be the beach or Burry Port.
Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence
Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community
Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction
Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.

Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

Ability to develop supportive and caring relationship with employer.
To undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.
Job Working Environment: Working in employer’s homes and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.

Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
Has good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.
Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is likely to be required.
