Job description

Meet Kenny – a friendly and active individual who enjoys spending time in the community, whether it’s going for a swim, heading out for coffee and lunch, or taking part in Alzheimer’s group activities. Kenny values independence, good company, and keeping life positive and engaging. He’s looking for a caring and proactive personal assistant to help him continue living life to the fullest.

A typical day with Kenny might include helping him plan and prepare meals, heading out for a swim, or travelling to Glasgow or Edinburgh for Alzheimer’s group meetings and social events. Sometimes, you might be supporting him on an overnight trip or enjoying an afternoon out with coffee.

You’ll support Kenny with a range of daily tasks to promote independence and wellbeing. This includes assisting with medication, preparing meals and snacks, light household duties, and supporting him to stay organised and active. There is no personal care involved in this role, except for occasional prompting or when Kenny’s partner is away and overnight support is required. Kenny can sometimes become confused, so part of your role will involve helping him stay safe and supporting him to handle money appropriately when out and about.

Kenny would love to work with someone who is warm, patient, and has a genuine interest in helping others. A caring attitude and good communication skills are essential, along with the confidence to take initiative and encourage him to stay involved in the activities he enjoys most.

This role is based in Wishaw, working in Kenny’s home and out in the local community. A full UK driving licence is essential, and you’ll be required to use your own vehicle. Please note that no mileage is paid, as journeys are minimal and Kenny mainly uses taxis for travel.

This is a permanent position of 35 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, 10:00am–17:00pm, with occasional weekend hours to cover outings or overnight support by arrangement. The rate of pay is £13.00 per hour.

Previous care experience is helpful but not essential – what matters most is being kind, reliable, and willing to learn. Training and guidance will be provided.

If you’re someone who enjoys meaningful work, values making a difference, and would like to support Kenny in leading an active, fulfilling life, we’d love to hear from you.

To apply, please send your CV and a short cover note explaining why you’d be a great fit for this role. We look forward to hearing from you!
