Job description
Personal Assistant/Support Worker for 7 year old boy

Personal Assistant/Support Worker - £11.44 per hour. Required for a seven year old boy in Keynsham to access the community and offer respite for family.

Up to 10 hours per week (term time) and 12 hours (school holidays), flexible days and times to be discussed. Every other Saturday 10 am – 4pm and two 2 hour evenings.

What tasks is the PA required to do

  • Social + leisure activities
  • Support to remain independent
  • Help support managing emotions

PA will be lone working and providing companionship to access the community and encouragement to engage in social activities such as play parks, climbing and the general outdoors. The child loves swimming and going to the library to print his interests (solar system/sea animals/planes).

The ideal candidate will be mature in nature and have experience and understanding of ASD/ ADHD and behavioural issues, and have a calm but firm manner, patience, a good sense of humour and lots of energy.

An understanding of or training in the below would be desirable:

  • Moving & handling
  • Understanding challenging behaviour
  • Food hygiene
  • First aid
  • Hand hygiene
  • Autism
  • ADHD

Current first aid certificate required or willingness to receive training necessary.

Car owner and must however have a full, clean UK driving licence. Promoting safety in the community and danger awareness is important.

Role subject to an Enhanced DBS check. References will be required.
