Job description

An elderly gentleman from Llandovery needs a Personal Assistant for 10 hours per week to support with personal care tasks, washing and dressing as required and to cover while he takes leave. He requires support with toileting tasks and use of incontinence aids, meal preparation tasks. The gentleman has a soft diet, does not eat meat, and needs light domestic tasks and transfer assistance using equipment. He also requires companionship, socialising and outings as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Support the employer with personal care tasks including washing, dressing, toileting and ensuring the use of incontinence aids.
  • Assist with meal preparation and domestic tasks while respecting his soft diet preferences.
  • Provide companionship, engage in conversation, and support social interaction.
  • Encourage the employer to attend appointments and maintain independence.
  • Ensure the employer’s safety at all times during working hours.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer.
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act and report safeguarding concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council (01267 228751).
  • Contact the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority when medical assistance is needed.

  1. Develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer.
  2. Undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
  3. Be able to contact people on the employer’s behalf when necessary.

  10. Hold a full, clean driving licence; access to a car may be required depending on the employer’s location and needs.
  11. Be prepared to include the vehicle in business use on your insurance to use it during work hours.
  12. Be prepared to undergo training to best meet the employer’s needs.
