Job description

If you’re looking for a career where you can make a real impression, join HSBC and discover how valued you’ll be.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an individual to join the team as People Risk Lead.

The opportunity

‘People Risk’ is one of the non-financial risk types within the HSBC Risk Management Framework. The ‘People Risk Lead’ role is an exciting opportunity for those interested in joining the People Function and acting in a 2LOD / Risk Steward capacity, supporting HSBC to maintain an effective control environment to mitigate risks associated with poor people management practices. This includes ensuring we have a diverse and inclusive workforce with behaviours aligned to HSBC values, with enough people, with the right skills, in the right locations to allow us to serve our customers and achieve HSBC’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the 2LoD People Risk Stewardship strategy and implementation across HSBC on behalf of the Group People Risk Steward, safeguarding the organization’s human capital while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal requirements.
  • Play a critical role in shaping the organization’s Risk Appetite around the management of our people, ensuring People Risks are effectively managed by the Global Businesses and Infrastructure teams. This involves setting clear expectations on 1LOD through the People Risk FIM Policies and Risk and Control library ensuring our employees are ‘Clear, Capable and Motivated’ to do their jobs, while we promote a culture where everyone can be at their best.
  • Work close to the People Leadership Team so they continue to promote active risk management and invest to protect our foundation.
  • Actively engage with stakeholders outside of the function, including other Risk Stewards, Businesses CCOs and Internal Audit to enable active identification of trends to anticipate future developments and emerging risks for the functions.
  • Develop and deliver risk training and awareness campaigns addressing resources capabilities gaps that champions a risk focused culture.
Requirements
  • Awareness of the HSBC Risk Management Framework.
  • Strong risk management skills and successful experience in operating within a three lines of defense model.
  • Strong stakeholder management / relationship management.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across geographies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of working on a global role.

The role location will be London.
