PE Teacher
Location: Durham
Contract: Full-time
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Start Date: ASAP

A Good secondary school in Durham is seeking a passionate, energetic, and dedicated PE Teacher to join their supportive and successful PE department as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop physical confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of sport and fitness.

Role Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging PE lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4, covering a range of sports and physical activities, including team games, individual sports, fitness, and health‑related physical education.
  • Create an inclusive, motivating, and safe learning environment that encourages participation, skill development, and enjoyment.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support.
  • Monitor pupil progress, assess performance, and provide constructive feedback to support achievement and personal development.
  • Prepare students for internal assessments, inter‑school competitions, and GCSE PE examinations if applicable.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the PE department.
  • Support extracurricular and enrichment activities such as sports clubs, teams, competitions, or school events.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching PE at KS3-KS4.
  • Strong subject knowledge across a variety of sports and physical activities.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills, with the ability to motivate and engage students.
  • A passion for promoting health, fitness, and physical education in young people.
