Job summary

A recruitment agency seeks a Payroll Project Specialist to support a key payroll transformation project with Essex County Council. The role requires extensive payroll experience and knowledge of UK legislation. Key responsibilities include configuring payroll processes and participating in User Acceptance Testing. Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in payroll with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manually calculate PAYE and National Insurance.
  • Solid knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including statutory absence and payments.
  • Experience working with Local Government and / or Teachers’ Pensions.

Responsibilities

  • Review, update, and test payroll elements in collaboration with the software provider.
  • Carry out detailed testing of payroll entry and employee self-service functionality.
  • Configure and test statutory and occupational absence payments.
  • Support improvements to Teachers’ Pension reporting.
  • Assist with the transition to automated LGPS reporting.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
