Payroll Officer – Temp, Immediate Start (Office‑Based, Full‑Time)

In‑house payroll for a client of around 500 employees – urgent start.

The role

You will manage a full, end‑to‑end payroll for roughly 500 staff, ensuring accurate, on‑time payment and acting as the on‑site payroll point of contact.

Key responsibilities
  • End‑to‑end processing of in‑house payroll for circa 500 employees
  • Accurate calculation of pay, overtime, holiday pay and allowances
  • Processing starters, leavers and contractual changes
  • Handling PAYE, NI, pensions and other statutory deductions
  • Checking and reconciling payroll reports before final sign‑off
  • Dealing with payroll queries from employees and managers
  • Maintaining up‑to‑date and accurate payroll records
What we’re looking for
  • Recent experience in an in‑house Payroll Officer / Payroll Administrator role
  • Confident running end‑to‑end, high‑volume payroll (ideally 300+ employees)
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, NI, pensions, SSP, SMP etc.)
  • Able to work in the office 5 days a week – this role is fully office‑based
  • Available to start immediately or on very short notice
  • Organised, accurate and comfortable working to strict payroll deadlines
