Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Payroll Administrator for maternity cover for up to 15 months in the UK. This role involves managing payroll for approximately 150 clients, ensuring accurate calculations of wages, taxes, and various statutory payments. The ideal candidate should have previous payroll experience, strong numeracy skills, and be proficient with Sage or Xero. The position offers flexible hours ranging from 24 to full-time 37.5 hours, with opportunities to accommodate additional accounts experience. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience within Payroll is essential.
  • Knowledge of Sage and/or Xero is desirable.
  • Intermediate experience with the Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate accurate wages, taxes, and deductions for clients.
  • Process documentation for starters and leavers.
  • Handle payroll discrepancies and provide advice as needed.
  • Liaise with HMRC and issue relevant tax forms.
  • Process BACS payments on behalf of clients.

Payroll Administrator

Maternity Cover Minimum 12 months up to 15 months

Based - Huddersfield - Office based

Part time or Full time hours - min 24- up to 37.5

We are very flexible with the hours required this can be a minimum of 24 hours up to fulltime 37.5 hours, the payroll department does close on a Friday afternoon however if you have any other accounts experience and wanted fulltime hours then you could be accommodated in other parts of the business.

JOB PURPOSE

To work with approximately 150 clients, for the preparation and processing of client s payrolls.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Calculating accurate wages, including bonuses, salary increases, overtime and company specific payments and deductions
  • Calculating tax, national insurance deductions and pension contributions
  • Calculating statutory payments, such as SMP, SSP, SPP etc.
  • Issuing of relevant tax forms
  • Process documentation for starters and leavers
  • Handle and respond to discrepancies and queries relating to payroll
  • Giving payroll advice as required
  • Processing BACS payments on behalf of some clients
  • Liaising with HMRC
  • Payrolling Benefits and P11D s
  • Any other ad hoc duties and administrative work

EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of Sage and/or Xero if you have other accounting experience - Desirable
