Overview

Portable Appliance Tester

Salary and benefits: National Living wage + Bonus + Company Vehicle + Fuel Card + Expenses + Tools. Average salary: £28k. Full training with progression opportunities. Permanent role. Must hold a full manual UK driving licence. Must pass a full enhanced DBS check. 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Some weekend work may be required and, on occasion, out-of-hours work. Some time may be spent away from home from Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT) in accordance with the current edition of the IET Code of Practice.
  • Produce results which meet the requirements and quality standards of clients and external accrediting bodies.
  • Manage appliance testing in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure that the work is carried out efficiently, to customer’s requirements, whilst limiting disruption to their business. Sites include Schools, Hospitals, Hotels and Universities.
  • Have an acceptable knowledge of Microsoft Office and access to emails; weekly reporting procedure to download and send results to the PAT team at Head Office.
  • Job schedules will be arranged by the PAT Team at Head Office; the engineer must manage their own time efficiently and successfully.
  • Maintain an acceptable time-keeping record; ensure start/finish times are adhered to as directed by the PAT Manager.
  • Identify, prevent, or pre-empt potential areas for customer dissatisfaction, e.g., arriving late due to traffic. Good route preparation and forward planning are vital.
