Overview
The successful candidate will carry out In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT) in accordance with the current edition of the IET Code of Practice. The role involves producing results that meet client and external accrediting body requirements, and managing appliance testing in line with Health & Safety Regulations. The engineer will liaise with customers to ensure work is carried out efficiently, meeting customer requirements while minimising disruption to their business. Sectors include Schools, Hospitals, Hotels and Universities.
Responsibilities
- Carry out In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT) in accordance with the current edition of the IET Code of Practice.
- Produce results that meet the requirements and quality standards of clients and external accrediting bodies.
- Manage appliance testing in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations.
- Liaise with customers to ensure work is carried out efficiently, to customer requirements, while limiting disruption to their business. Sites include Schools, Hospitals, Hotels and Universities.
- Maintain an acceptable knowledge of Microsoft Office and have access to emails; weekly process of downloading results and sending to the PAT team at Head Office.
- Job schedules are arranged by the PAT Team at Head Office; the engineer must manage their own time efficiently and successfully.
- Maintain good time-keeping and ensure start & finish times are adhered to as directed by the PAT Manager.
- Identify, prevent, or pre-empt potential areas for customer dissatisfaction (e.g., arriving late due to traffic); plan routes and forward planning are vital.
Requirements & Environment
- Excellent organisational, hard-working, competent and reliable approach.
- Excellent communication skills; able to work in a team and independently.
- Proficiency with IT (Microsoft Office) and access to a laptop/tablet/computer to download reports weekly.
- Willing to work in different environments.
- Comply with current uniform standards and wear the company uniform correctly.
- Must hold Full Manual UK Driver's Licence.
- Must pass Full enhanced DBS check.
- 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday; some weekend work may be required and occasionally out of hours work.
- Some time may be spent away from home, Monday to Friday.
- Salary: Average £28k; Full training with progression opportunities; Pension Scheme; Bonus Scheme; Annual leave; Progression within the company.
