Pastoral Support Officer - Immediate Start | Full-Time | Long-Term Placement

Education Personnel are seeking an experienced and committed Pastoral Support Officer to join a thriving secondary academy in Derby. This full-time role is to start as soon as possible, working five days a week, and will run until at least Christmas, with a high likelihood of continuing until the end of the academic year.

Role Overview

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will be central to maintaining the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of students. Key responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small‑group pastoral interventions
  • Supporting behaviour management across the school
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Working closely with safeguarding teams and external agencies
  • Managing key pastoral cases and contributing to intervention plans
  • Helping maintain a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment
What You Need

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • Previous pastoral support experience in a school or youth setting
  • Strong communication, empathy and resilience
  • Effective behaviour management skills
  • A genuine commitment to helping young people overcome barriers

You will also need:

  • Registration with Education Personnel (or willingness to register)
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Two professional references
  • Full compliance clearance prior to starting
Pay Rate

£120‑£130 per day, depending on experience
