Job Title: Pastoral Officer

Location: Chesterfield & Chapel-en-le-Frith

Pay Rate: £110 – £130 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Officer for a full-time, temporary-to-permanent opportunity across Chesterfield and Chapel-en-le-Frith. This role is perfect for someone who believes in safeguarding, emotional support, and building strong relationships that empower young people to thrive.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily pastoral support for students, helping them manage behaviour, emotions, and attendance
  • Build strong relationships with pupils and families, offering guidance and early intervention
  • Write detailed reports for professional meetings, safeguarding reviews, and support plans
  • Attend Strategy meetings, Core Group meetings, and multi-agency discussions
  • Liaise with external agencies and school leaders to coordinate support pathways
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with pupils and families in a pastoral, safeguarding, or behavioural capacity
  • Strong report‑writing skills for professional and multi‑agency meetings
  • Experience attending safeguarding meetings such as Strategy or Core Groups
  • DSL training (highly desirable) or strong safeguarding knowledge
  • Excellent communication, empathy, resilience, and boundary‑setting skills
  • Ability to remain calm, supportive, and proactive in challenging situations
  • Full UK driving licence with business insurance required – an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years of employment, with explanations for any gaps.
