A local authority is seeking a dedicated individual for a pivotal role to oversee Passenger Transport Services in Coventry. This requires supervising operational staff, maintaining administration, and ensuring a high-quality customer service, supporting children and vulnerable passengers daily. Passenger Transport Services (PTS) Coventry, is responsible for delivering transport services to approximately 1200 passengers daily, to schools and daycare centres with special educational needs and/or physical and/or sensory impairments.
PTS have a team of over 180 staff from casual to F/T, supporting the service with 80 accessible minibus-type vehicles. The positions being recruited are on a split shift basis and there will be a need for successful candidates to work in the morning and afternoon with a break in between.
This is a fast‑paced service that provides transport for SEN children and young people and older members of the community. Therefore this pivotal role is to support the successful delivery of Passenger Transport Services by ensuring the provision of an excellent and ‘customer focused’ can do service to all stakeholders, which reflects the vision, values, aims and objectives of Coventry City Council and its partners.
Working with an experienced team of Coordinator and Supervisors across a two‑week shift pattern from 6:45am – 6:30pm you will be engaging children, young people, parent/carers, schools, children's and adult services on a daily basis in an ever changing challenging but rewarding role, that includes:
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
You will be experienced at working within a busy, diverse customer‑facing services with a calm solution‑focused approach. You will have an understanding of safeguarding, health and safety and quality control and compliance. You will have experience in supervising people.
You will have the ability to respond to complaints, queries in a sensitive, empathetic manner and offer support to various stakeholders. Therefore, skills and traits such as being motivated, a multitasker, flexible, organised, IT competent, a team player, and a can‑do problem solver will stand you in good stead for this role.
