Job description

This varied role is a dedicated point of contact for adult learners providing an additional layer of support working collaboratively with subject tutors. You will focus on supporting and coaching adult students to meet or exceed challenging targets, to develop as independent learners and to prepare for their next steps in education or industry.

Responsibilities
  • Actively promote and track the destinations of adult learners, ensuring they progress to positive next steps.
  • Organise or highlight activities and events that expose adult learners to higher education opportunities, including visits, workshops, and guest speakers.
  • Lead targeted pastoral care for adult learners providing regular one-to-one and group sessions.
  • Act as a point of contact for these adult learners, ensuring effective communication and support.
  • Monitor attendance, academic progress, and personal development for the identified cohort, liaising with Award Leaders, subject tutors and curriculum teams.
  • Initiate and support interventions where students are at risk of underachievement or disengagement.
  • Engage with the reporting process as required with a particular focus on Additional Learning Support for adult learners.

You will need to be able to work flexibly within this role as you will have a 'caseload' of adult students with specific timetabled sessions which includes supporting adult evening provision as well as College events such as Open Evenings and Induction. This is a variable hours role, with hours likely to be two days per week although there is potential for further hours as the role develops so flexibility is required. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.
