Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner (AP) for a Part-Time position in the Duty & Assessment Team at Barnsley Council. The successful candidate will lead a small team, delivering high-quality assessments and supporting children's needs. Eden Brown Synergy are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Advanced Practitioner (AP) for Part-Time Duty & Assessment Team in Barnsley Council.

Job Title : Part-Time AP Duty & Assessment Team

Location : Wombwell Police Station, Barnsley (S73 0HF)

Pay Rate : £37 per hour

Hours : 18.5 hours per week.

About the Role

18.5 hours per week, based at Wombwell Police Station, Barnsley.

Lead and support a small team within the Assessment & Duty Team.

Must have Duty & Assessment experience.

Hybrid working available.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support a small, dedicated team within the Assessment & Duty Team.

Deliver statutory assessments and interventions, ensuring high standards of multi‑agency collaboration.

Implement and uphold best practices aligned with the Stronger Together model, supported by Signs of Safety.

Work closely with colleagues and partners to assess needs and manage risk effectively.

Provide strong reflective supervision and contribute to team development.

What We're Looking For

Qualified Social Worker with significant statutory experience in a Duty & Assessment.

Proven ability to lead a team and provide reflective supervision to support professional development.

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and best practice standards.

Experience driving positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families through collaborative working.

Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

The successful candidate must have a high standard of written and spoken English.

Essential Requirements
  • Social Work Qualification – Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a social worker within children’s services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle
