Job description
Overview

An exciting permanent, full time opportunity to join the Parkinson's Specialist Team to support people with Parkinson's while they are in-patients and in clinic settings within University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP). The post is development-focused, commencing at band 6 with progression to band 7 on completion of relevant training and meeting specified outcomes. A structured induction and full support will be provided to help the post holder meet the role requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Support patients with a Parkinson's Disease diagnosis in clinic settings, on acute wards, and virtually via the Parkinson's Hub.
Additional Notes

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff and to applicants with Priority or At Risk status who have recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Proven degree or desire to work towards a degree qualification
  • Teaching qualification or evidence and demonstrable experience of teaching
  • First level diploma in Adult nursing or equivalent Healthcare science involving patient care

Desirable

  • Leadership Course or equivalent
  • MSc in clinical nursing, or willingness to work towards, or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Non-medical prescriber qualification or willingness to work towards

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in a relevant field
  • Proven ability to demonstrate commitment to high quality patient care
  • Demonstrate understanding of Parkinson's Specialist role
  • An awareness of audit initiatives and/or other quality improvement initiatives
  • Proven ability to set and monitor standards

Aptitude & Abilities

Essential

  • Management of clinical workload and ability to self-manage
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to deliver to deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work within a rapidly changing environment
