Property & Casualty Paralegal / Claims Handler

Bristol | Full-time, Permanent, 35 hour week contract | Hybrid Working Available

35 hour a week contract, Monday to Friday

We're looking for an experienced Paralegal / Claims Handler to join our growing Property & Casualty team in Bristol. You'll be part of a vibrant insurance group working on a broad range of complex property damage matters - from fire and flood to construction and subsidence - for major UK insurers and insureds.

What You'll Be Doing

In this exciting and varied role, you'll take the lead on a portfolio of subrogated property recovery claims, managing them from first instruction through to litigation when necessary. You'll have autonomy over your caseload and the opportunity to make a real impact, with claims ranging from £10,000 to several million pounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Run a caseload of property insurance claims, including subrogated recoveries
  • Manage claims through pre-action stages and, where necessary, issue proceedings
  • Ensure timely, high-quality client service in line with SLAs and internal best practice
  • Maintain accurate management information and documentation
  • Collaborate with colleagues across teams and offices to support a seamless client experience
  • Contribute to business development and team initiatives where appropriate
What We're Looking For
  • Proven claims handling experience with responsibility for managing a caseload is very desirable
  • Litigation experience and a sound working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR)
  • Experience in the insurance sector is a plus, but not essential
  • Strong understanding of legal procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial awareness with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Strong attention to detail and effective organisational skills
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and case management systems
  • A collaborative, inclusive mindset and willingness to be part of a supportive team
