An exciting opportunity has arisen for Paediatric Staff nurse to join our Children's Outpatients and Ambulatory Care department at Chelsea & Westminster Foundation Trust.

Children's Outpatients and Ambulatory Care is a fast paced and dynamic clinical environment providing high standards of care to all our patients and their families. The role will be to provide high quality care to patients, ensuring patient safety and supporting the patients and their carers throughout their outpatient journey.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5 to work in Children's Outpatients and Ambulatory Care department. Applicants need to have excellent communication skills, positive personality and a professional approach to their work. You must be able to deal with the public in a sensitive and polite manner, be flexible in your approach to work, act as part of a team and promote good teamwork.

Main duties
  • Lead on assessing, planning and implementing high quality care, and evaluating care options for patients in the clinical area, in line with the Trust values and objectives.
  • Lead on complex clinical care for patients within your area.
  • Ensure the safe custody, maintenance and administration of medication, in accordance with established Trust policy.
  • Promote and maintain a safe therapeutic environment for patients, their families and staff, according to national and local Infection Control guidelines, Health & Safety legislation and Trust policies and objectives.
  • Coordinate discharges and transfers, promoting timely and safe processes for them.
  • Provide sound evidence based clinical advice as required to staff and patients.
  • Maintain a good understanding and implementation of clinical escalation procedures as required.
  • Maintain professional behaviour at all times and promote a positive image of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust at all times, in line with Trust values.
  • Contribute to a high quality safe working environment in which patients receive a high standard of care.
  • Participate in the setting of standards for nursing practice and for care involving the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Practice in accordance with, and aware of your responsibilities under, the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and other appropriate NMC guidelines.

Education and Qualifications
  • Degree / Diploma
  • Registered Nurse on NMC registers. Hold appropriate level for the area of speciality (RSCN/RN Child)
  • Evidence of recent and on-going professional development
  • Mentorship/Teaching/assessing course
Desirable
  • Post qualification in relevant specialty
Experience
  • Proven clinical experience in relevant area
  • Experience with acutely ill patients
  • Ability to utilise pre-registration experience to demonstrate an understanding of the relevant settings.
