The closing date is 25 January 2026

The 12-month post will commence on 1st August 2026 at GOSH, moving to RNOH 01/02/2027

This is an exciting opportunity to gain or extend your clinical experience in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery in the supportive environment of Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH). The candidate will spend 6 months at GOSH and the remaining 6 months at RNOH. As a valued member of the team, you will be included in the educational and training activities of the units and will be offered study leave. Clinical research, audit and quality improvement activities will also be encouraged.

This post does not attract any on‑calls, but there is opportunity to join the on‑call rota if you would like to.

Furthermore, although this is not a resident post, there is opportunity to apply for on‑site accommodation to help facilitate potential move to the area for the successful candidate.

RNOH is a national tertiary hospital that provides a comprehensive range of neuromusculoskeletal health care ranging from acute spinal injury and complex bone tumour management to orthopaedic medicine and specialist rehabilitation. There are extensive services for children, which the Trust plans to expand over the coming years.

The Paediatric Orthopaedic Service is predominantly based on the Stanmore site, with all elective surgery being completed onsite at Stanmore. Some outpatient clinics are held at our central London facility on Bolsover Street.

Main duties of the job

There will be joint clinics and joint operating sessions in addition to some independent but supervised operating and outpatient sessions. The fellow will be expected to supervise MDT and participate in audit research, and the general provision of the service within the unit and ensure the smooth running of day‑to‑day activities of the firm.

Based at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, this fellowship provides an excellent higher training opportunity in all aspects of limb reconstruction in a world‑renowned tertiary referral centre for orthopaedic surgery. This will include experience with management of internal and external fixation, circular frames, lengthening nails and management of bone infection.

The successful candidate will experience the full range of adult and paediatric limb reconstruction surgery. The placement provides excellent opportunities for clinical and professional development. Throughout the duration of the fellowship the candidate will be expected to engage in the planning and delivery of services as well as in research and service improvement projects.

This post does not attract an NTN, but is suitable for a candidate who has passed the FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent, and is looking for subspecialty experience in complex elective adult /paediatric limb reconstruction & bone infection. Applicants must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice prior to the start of employment.
