Job description

Paediatric Outpatients – Band 6

Full‑time (37.5 hours per week) across Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital. Cross‑site working may be required.

Responsibilities

• Act as the clinical expert and professional resource to patients, carers and the multi‑professional team.
• Work alongside the multi‑disciplinary team and Head of Nursing to ensure the development and delivery of a high‑quality service.
• Directly or indirectly influence all aspects of care and management of patients within the pre‑assessment service.
• Provide specialist nursing support to ensure elective patients are admitted to the Children’s Hospital with gold‑standard pre‑operative assessment and care.
• Collaborate with the MDT to plan and support patient families through their entire journey and promote patient‑centred care.
• Lead nursing practice development, line‑manage the pre‑assessment team and promote innovation across all specialities.

Qualifications

• Registered Paediatric Nurse (or equivalent) with experience in pre‑assessment or paediatric clinical settings.
• Demonstrated specialist knowledge, skills and innovative practice in pre‑assessment and paediatric care.
• Strong leadership, communication and collaborative skills to influence multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous service improvement.
