Position: Packaging Technologist

Location: Peterborough

Hours: 9am-5:15pm (Monday to Thursday) 4pm finish on a Friday

Salary: £40K

Reporting to: Packaging Manager

Job Overview

My client is looking for a Packaging Technologist to join our fast-paced manufacturing team, supporting own-brand and private label NPD from concept to launch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver packaging solutions for NPD projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Brief and manage suppliers on component specs, tooling, artwork, and testing
  • Coordinate colour matching, cutter guides, and spec approval
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation (NLFs, pallet plans, specs)
  • Attend production trials and first production runs to ensure packaging quality
  • Track and communicate project progress, risks and priorities clearly
  • Support Packaging Coordinators and contribute to continuous improvement
What you'll bring
  • Proven experience in packaging development, ideally in FMCG or manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of plastic and glass components and related production processes
  • Confidence managing multiple projects and working cross-functionally
  • Hands‑on, detail-focused and solutions-oriented approach
  • Manufacturing experience is an advantage
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to prioritise in a fast-moving environment
