Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: CONRADH NA GAEILGE BOIRCHE ÍOCHTARThis role will involve the running a community tea room (Café) and Library within the community centre to allow the community to have a place to come together and socialise through the medium of Irish.You will be the base contact for the community and allow us to work directly with those interested in the Irish language while providing the much needed and wanted services for them. The role is based in an Irish language community centre and so we are keen to hear from applicants with some level of Irish and who have an interest in the development of the language in the Mourne area.This role will include working with volunteers and other casual staff as well as members of the community. We need someone who is vibrant, has good initiative and is passionate in helping us reach our goals within the organisation.

Responsibilities
  • To facilitate the opening of the library and café.
  • Meet the needs of the community through facilitating possible meet up events and conversational circles.
  • Work with the rest of the team to create and provide any resources which may be needed within the community.
  • Manage stock within the café.
  • Prepare drinks and traybakes (training will be provided).
  • Cleaning the café.
  • Ensuring cataloguing in the library is up to date.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Some knowledge of the Irish language or willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills for working with community.
  • Basic Food Hygiene.
  • Knowledge of IT system for library software (Cataloging) and spreadsheets for stock takes.
  • Good level of Irish.
