A regional healthcare provider in Merthyr Tydfil is seeking a registered general nurse for its outpatient department. Main Outpatients facilitates a wide range of Consultant, Nurse lead clinics and visiting specialities. The successful candidate must have an interest in Outpatient Nursing, work well independently and as part of a team, embrace the core values of the health board and a willingness to learn and improve services for patients.

This doesn't mean essential; while the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above.
The skills of wound care are important and required for this role. An interest in working alongside the consultant in dermatology minor surgery is advantageous.
The successful applicant will be required to facilitate clinics independently, carry out clinical procedures such as bladder scanning, supervise junior staff and support Student Nurses on placement. In the absence of the Department Manager, they would also be required to manage the Outpatient area. Staff are required to undertake mandatory training and e‑learning, actively participate in PADR and are supported in achieving revalidation. The successful candidate is requested to actively participate and encourage departmental learning and development. Main Outpatients operates Monday to Friday, and it is important that the successful candidate is flexible over the 5‑day period to meet the needs of the service.
