Job description

We are currently looking to recruit an Outpatient Receptionist working 37.5 hours - Mon, Tues & Fri 8-6pm, Thur 8-5.30pm off Wed including Saturdays on a rota basis. Staff may be asked to cross cover for leave/sickness so day off may alter depending on service needs. Main duties will include: Checking in patients, updating contact details, booking appointments, recording clinical outcomes, booking ambulances, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Collect case notes from the Medical Records Department and organise the OPD department reception desk for the current day\'s clinics. Follow H&S guidelines for moving and handling of loads.
  • Provide reception cover for outpatient clinics. Check and update patient details to ensure data quality is maintained. Book follow-up appointments using the PAS scheduling system. Ensure all appointment outcomes are completed and all clinics are reconciled. Record DNAs as necessary.
  • Calculate, validate and authorise patient entitlement to travel expenses following Trust policy and populate the database.
  • Process all enquiries for information/case notes both face to face and on the telephone using the PAS system, ensuring confidentiality, Caldicott and data protection guidelines are followed.
  • Liaise with County ambulance control centres to process patient ambulance transport bookings.
  • Provide cover for colleagues in the event of sickness and holidays.
  • Liaise with colleagues, secretariat, ward staff and other departments as necessary to provide a courteous and efficient ward clerk service.
