Job description
Overview

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading Engineering and Industrial Solutions Sub-Contractor who operate in the Power Generation, Utilities, Petrochemical and Heavy Industry sector.

As part of their growth and investment, we are looking for an Operations Manager with an Engineering background to align with their business strategy. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the day-to-day activities run smoothly and efficiently, overseeing operational processes, optimising performance and ensuring resources (people, processes) are effectively aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Managing Director, manage all works presented by the commercial team to ensure they are delivered on time, on budget, with high HSE activities and high QA standards in line with engineering principles.
  • Oversee inventory and supply chain operations with the commercial manager, sales and procurement team.
  • Delivery of all workscopes ensuring compliance with company standards and processes.
  • Attend weekly management meetings and prepare regular reports.
  • Manage the allocation of resources to ensure projects are appropriately staffed.
  • Lead and manage the Field Service & Workshop teams.
  • Deliver the day-to-day business strategy in collaboration with the Sales & Commercial Team.
  • Utilise Lean, Six Sigma and similar tools for continuous improvement and streamline processes to reduce costs whilst improving productivity.
Professional qualifications
  • Ideally qualified with a HNC / HND / ONC in relevant Engineering field.
  • It would be advantageous to hold an Engineering membership.
  • Ideally hold an IOSH / NEBOSH or equivalent in Health & Safety.
  • Six Sigma / Lean Certifications.
Personal skills
  • At least 5 years senior management experience on a Power Station or Large Process Plant with Power / Steam Raising plant (Energy from Waste, Biomass, CCGT, CHP, Refinery, Petrochemical, etc.).
  • Strong man-management and leadership skills with proven experience in achieving plant KPIs.
  • Budget/Commercial/Strategic experience.
