Overview

Our client is a small to medium sized business offering niche and innovative products to a global engineering market. They are experiencing sustained growth and are looking for an experienced Operations Manager / General Manager to join their Gillingham site. Reporting to the MD, you will be a key member of the leadership team, driving forward the company's performance through close management of processes and methods.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Organise and manage around 60 staff across toolroom, maintenance, quality, production and warehousing, across two sites.
  • Lead engineering, health and safety and quality programmes.
  • Actively contribute and implement ideas that improve process safety and efficiency.
  • Analyse daily operational data to ensure short and long term KPIs are met.
  • Manage stock control and work with the sales team to meet customer demand.
  • Implement and manage preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure end product compliance and personal development of shop floor personnel.
  • Be directly involved in quality management systems and audits.
  • Drive a culture of excellence.
Experience and qualifications
  • Background in manufacturing or engineering environment, or relevant qualifications.
  • Ability to actively input into engineering projects.
  • Experience improving manufacturing processes using Lean or Kaizen.
  • Track record managing stock levels through efficient planning and stock control.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge and experience managing an ERP system.
