Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

As an Operations Manager you will play a key strategic role in ensuring the effective and efficient management of the academy’s finances, operations and support services. You will oversee areas including finance, HR, estates management, health and safety, ICT provision, procurement and administration, ensuring that our academy continues to run smoothly and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership on all aspects of business operations.
  • Manage the academy’s budget, financial reporting and long-term financial planning.
  • Oversee HR processes, staff recruitment and workforce administration.
  • Lead on site management, health and safety compliance and facilities development.
  • Manage supplier relationships, procurement processes and contract compliance.
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in the delivery of operational and strategic goals.
  • Ensure robust systems are in place to maintain high operational standards across the academy.
About Fortis Academy

Fortis Academy is a large 11‑18 academy serving a local area of high‑density housing in Birmingham’s outer suburbs. The academy is the largest employer in the ward with over 200 employees and is part of the North Area Network of schools.

Salary and Working Hours

Actual Salary : 35877 - 40388 pro rata

Working Hours : 37 hours per week – Term time 3 weeks which includes 5 INSET days – 41 weeks per year
