Job Summary

Supporting the running of the clinic by completing baseline observations on patients and supporting the POAC nurses to ensure patients are assessed and ready for their planned surgery. Patient assessment duties include BP, weight, height, MRSA swabbing & urinalysis. Support nurses and the operational services assistant in the day‑to‑day running of the nurse‑led clinic within Leighton Hospital Outpatient area. Potential working hours are 8 AM‑8 PM, Monday‑Friday with occasional weekend work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the implementation and evaluation of patient care by following agreed plans, policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.
  • Record and store routine information securely, ensuring it is accurate, complete and legible; retrieve promptly when required.
  • Enter data, obtain and collate information from computer systems using agreed software packages.
  • Prepare the clinical environment for safe practice, maintaining cleanliness and ensuring availability of relevant materials and equipment; restore the environment afterwards.
  • Contribute to the efficient use of physical and financial resources, offer suggestions to solve resource problems and ensure agreed equipment, stock and supplies are available in required quantities.
  • Promote the individual needs of patients, acknowledging personal preferences, rights and choices; uphold anti‑discriminatory practice, privacy, dignity and respect for personal values and identity.
  • Promote effective communication and relationships, maintaining confidentiality of information. Key duties include:
  • Supporting patients/relatives, sensitively communicating agreed information and referring queries back to the professional.
  • Demonstrating effective interpersonal skills when dealing with staff, patients, relatives, and the public in person, on the telephone and in writing.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with other staff, passing on relevant information, raising queries and suggestions.

The salary threshold for sponsorship is £25,000 for Health and Care Visas and £41,700 (with limited exceptions) for Skilled Worker visas.
