Job summary

A specialist provider of care for children is seeking a Registered Manager to lead a dedicated team and ensure high standards of care in a children's home. The role requires at least 2 years of senior-level experience in a children's home, as well as a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare. This challenging position involves managing operations, safeguarding concerns, and liaising with various professionals to support children with emotional and behavioral needs. A full UK driving licence is also essential.

Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a London specialist provider of care and support for Children and Young People aged 7‑18 years with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

As a Registered Manager you will be required to take full responsibility for the leadership, management and day‑to‑day operations of the children's home, and ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance with regulatory frameworks.

You will be providing comprehensive support for those with a history of mental health challenges, residential care for children and young people with learning disabilities. Short to long term placements for children, or those with reduced capacity.

Responsibilities
  • Recruiting, leading and developing a high‑performing, dedicated team to safeguard and promote the welfare, development and independence of children with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Ensuring that the company's policies and procedures are followed and resources managed effectively.
  • Managing child protection and safeguarding concerns and complaints.
  • Liaising with Local Authorities, schools, health and other professionals to achieve best outcomes for children.
  • Lead and manage the home.
  • Understand the impact that the quality of care provided in the home is having on the progress and experiences of each child and use this understanding to inform the development of the quality of care provided in the home.
  • Management of resources which will include staff, finance and building.
Qualifications
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • At least 2 years' experience in a children's home setting at a senior level within the last five years.
  • At least two years' experience in a managerial role.
  • Willingness to apply to Ofsted for Registered Manager's status and undergo an interview for registration.
  • Experience of working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties including those with special educational needs, learning disability and / or autism and other neuro‑divergence.
  • Clean UK driving licence and the ability to drive with young passengers.
