Job Summary

We are looking for a confident Occupational Therapy Assistant with a passion for delivering outstanding care.

You'll be working full‑time, making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Cygnet Hospital Woking.

Cygnet Hospital Woking offers a range of mental health services for men and women. Cygnet Lodge Woking, our sister hospital close by, provides a high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for men and extends our care pathway.

Your Role

Cygnet Woking is a 94‑bedded hospital with a variety of wards, including locked rehab, low secure services, acute services and a female PICU. We have a designated qualified OT and OTA on each ward as well as Activity Coordinators supporting the activities around the hospital.

We are currently recruiting for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy Team to support recovery in the integrated care pathway at Cygnet. You will be required to work across different service lines with opportunity for rotation as you progress within the role.

In this role you will
  • Deliver planned activities for patients under the direction of the ward Occupational Therapist (OT) and Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Assist the OT in the day‑to‑day duties and running of the department.
  • Undertake assessment and intervention programmes with clients as delegated by a senior occupational therapist underpinned by appropriate experience and knowledge.
  • Contribute ideas, create and facilitate events and activities safely and support people to structure their time through meaningful activity.
  • Have involvement in the delivery of one‑to‑one and group interventions.
  • Implement individual care plans during activity sessions and take into account specific interests and opportunities to promote choice and independence.
Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and over 300 OT support staff. Working together as a large team, we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups and become involved in service development.

Preceptorship & Induction

Starting a new job can be daunting, which is why we have a robust induction process that enables you to shadow staff, discuss your learning and receive expert support to develop into your role. We offer an Occupational Therapy Assistant preceptorship programme in your first 12 months to support and consolidate core skills. We also offer regular, virtual Q&A sessions with our clinical lead OT and networking with other OT Assistants and Activity Coordinators in your service line.
