Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Therapies East

Are you a qualified or about-to-qualify Occupational Therapist looking for a supportive place to begin or grow your career? Or a Band 5 OT ready for a new challenge?

This is an excellent opportunity for an OT with an interest in older adult rehabilitation to join a high-quality ward therapy team, supporting patients to regain independence and return home safely.

Based mainly at St Mark's Hospital, Maidenhead, with some cross-cover at Upton Hospital, Slough, you’ll join a close-knit inpatient team of OTs, physios and therapy assistants. You’ll manage a varied caseload of adults with complex needs and gain valuable experience in a dynamic MDT where learning and development are actively supported.

Day to day, you’ll be:

• Assessing patients and creating personalised rehab plans
• Supporting or running groups such as falls prevention and exercise
• Working closely with patients, families and the wider MDT
• Supporting therapy assistants and supervising students
• Joining ward rounds, case conferences and discharge planning

Main duties of the job

The post will be part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team within an inpatient setting which will offer assessment and treatment for patients in the east of Berkshire. The role will involve:

• Being responsible for your owncaseload using an interdisciplinary, patient focused rehabilitative approach with support from the senior therapists.
• Providing supervision and guidance to band 3 and 4 support workers in the therapy team and making recommendations to the wider MDT to support with the education of students.
• Being involved in QI and contributing to the planning, development, and evaluation of the service.

Education/Qualifications/Training

• Occupational Therapy Degree
• Registration with Health Professions Council

Previous Experience

• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency environment
