Job summary

A friendly local nursery in Waterlooville is seeking a Nursery Apprentice to care for children and support their development. This role offers 40 hours per week at £7.55 per hour, increasing after 12 months. Responsibilities include creating a nurturing environment, basic care, and assisting with educational activities. Candidates should be willing to adhere to nursery policies. Training includes an Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship and functional skills in Maths and English.

Job description

Are you looking to train in childcare? A friendly, local nursery in Cowplain, Portsmouth, is looking for a Nursery Apprentice to join their team. For the right person, there is the opportunity to secure full-time employment and progress to higher level qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Creating warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally
  • Under supervision you will provide all aspects of care for children including washing, changing and feeding
  • Acting as key worker to a small group of children and recording observations and planning for them
  • Completing all Apprenticeship work as set by Showcase Training Assessor
  • Assisting with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Being aware of the nurseries policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to
Hours and Pay

This role is 40 hours per week Monday – Friday. Candidates will be on a wage of £7.55 per hour, increasing to National Minimum/Living Wage after 12 months of employment.

Training
  • Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard (12 months) OR
  • Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard (18 months)
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (unless exempt)
