Job summary

A children’s hospice organization is seeking a dedicated Nurse to provide family-centred care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. The successful candidate will have essential qualifications as a Registered Sick Children’s Nurse or similar, with experience in clinical nursing. Job Summary

Every moment counts. Every memory matters. Come and join our Nursing team as a Nurse and provide exceptional care and support to children with life limiting and life‑threatening conditions.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with children with complex needs. They will be able to work both in a team and independently, use their own initiative and contribute to the skill base of the wider team.

As a nurse you will deliver high‑quality clinical nursing care to meet the diverse individual needs of children and young people. You will work with a team of Carers, Nurses, Team Nurses, Senior Team Nurses and Lead Nurses in a supportive environment.

You will have experience in clinical nursing assessment, planning and delivering evidence‑based care in conjunction with Julias House policies and procedures, and will deliver safe care to children and young people with complex, often changing needs.

You will be based at our Dorset Hospice, our Wimborne Care Office and will work across Dorset in the homes of the children we look after. Flexibility is required to cover days, evenings, weekends, school holidays and occasional overnights. There are no set hours for contracted staff; care is provided at the times requested by families and is therefore variable. Rotas are prepared 6 weeks in advance. This role is 35 hours per week, permanent contract, full‑time.

  • Provide a flexible and responsive approach to support the requirements of end‑of‑life care when necessary.

Essential Qualifications
  • Registered Sick Children’s Nurse or Registered Nurse (Child Branch) Diploma or Degree
  • Registered Learning Disability Nurse
  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Registered Nurse Adult (RN Adult)
Desirable Qualifications
  • Counselling training and/or care of the dying and bereaved course or experience
  • ENB 998 or equivalent teaching and assessing course
Essential Experience
  • Experience of working with sick children and their families
  • Safeguarding Awareness Level 3
  • Understanding of equal opportunities
