Job Summary

Discharge Lounge
To provide a comfortable and secure place for patients to wait whilst waiting for transport, medication or other discharge needs after they are medically ready to leave the ward. The department is designed to streamline the discharge process and create inpatient bed capacity.

Main duties of the job
  • Qualified Nurse in Dx lounge to manage the team
  • Manage delegate duties to HCA
  • Give medications
  • Prepare patients for dx home
  • Refer to outside agencies
  • Book transport
  • Provide safe high quality Care for patients in the duration of their stay whilst in dx lounge; give discharge documentation and advice
  • Liaise and work closely with wards and depts
