Nurse Colposcopist - Band 7 progressing to Band 8A

British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP) accredited autonomous Nurse Colposcopist able to directly perform Colposcopy and further develop nurse led service.Work together with Consultant Colposcopists to ensure smooth running and development of the Colposcopy service.Participate in audit to ensure high quality, safe and effective care.Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient /client care.Provide person-centred care to ensure continuity of care within agreed standards.Contribute to effective team working.Comply with nursing strategy, trust policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and codes of conduct.Adhere to Trust Behaviours.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to DHSSPS and NMC guidelines for practice requirements and standards, for example, safe handling, administration, storage and custody of medicinal products
  • Adhere to Trust guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Maintain own professional and personal development in accordance with the NMC Code (2010), standards and professional guidelines
  • Maintain accreditation with the BSCCP
Skills and Qualifications
  • Have three years post-registration experience with 2 years in a gynaecology setting with evidence of continuous professional development
  • Degree, diploma or other nursing qualification allowing registration with NMC
  • Registered on part 1 (Branch - Adult ) of the NMC register
  • Complete training to achieve Colposcopist accreditation with the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP) and complete Objective Structural Clinical Examination (OSCE) within 2 years.
  • Complete training to be able to perform cervical smear tests within 2 years
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport
