Job description

We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the security of the hostel, making every guest feel safe and welcome
• Working on reception, providing support to guests and preparing necessary reports
• Regular inspections to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort
• Carrying out cleaning duties, helping to prepare the breakfast service, and covering various tasks to ensure a seamless guest experience

Qualities

• Excellent timekeeping, with flexibility to cover different shifts – punctual, able to work to deadlines
• Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) – able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
• A food safety qualification would be beneficial (desirable)
• Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA – what YHA does and how we do it
• Demonstration of our HEART values – they’re part of everything we do, and we look for people who bring them to life in their everyday work

£12.21 per hour, rising to £12.71 per hour from 1st March 2026 in line with the National Living Wage (applies to all, including those under the age of 21). Staff accommodation is available at a rate of £69.83 per week.
