Job description

NIGHT DRILLING SUPERVISOR isrequired by our client, an oil and gas operator, to be assigned on a contract basis, located in Congo.

DURATION 6-months (ongoing)

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for all activities at the well site on the night shift.
• Ensures work is performed safely and efficiency, promoting a strong safety culture.
• Supervises drilling operations during the night shift including implementing the drilling programme, monitoring progress and making necessary adjustments.
• Leads and manages the drilling crew during the night shift, providing guidance, support and adherence to procedures.
• Collaborates with other departments, contractors, and stakeholders (e.g. drilling engineers, service companies, etc.) to ensure smooth operations and problem resolution
• Monitors well conditions.
• Identifies potential hazards, implements preventative measures and manages any unexpected issues or emergencies, and escalates when appropriate.
• Prepares reports, maintain records, and ensures accurate document of drilling activities
• Ensures all operations are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
• Ensures compliance with the QHSE policies and procedures of the rig contractor, the company and country (if applicable) legislation.
• Responsible for accuracy and punctuality of all wellsite drilling reports.
• Manages all service companies at the wellsite.
• Conducts emergency drills and ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
• In the event of unexpected situations or emergencies, such as well blowouts or equipment failures, in conjunction with the Senior Drilling Supervisor is responsible for implementing emergency response plans at the wellsite to protect personnel, assets, and the environment.
• Communicate effectively with the Senior Drilling Supervisor to ensure smooth handover and continuity of operations.
• Participate in risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and implement control measures.
• Oversees inspection of drilling equipment and ensure proper maintenance and repair.
• Sign service tickets ensuring that they are in line with the relevant service contract.
• Actively participates in DQEs STOP programme.
• Other duties as requirement.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

• A deep understanding of drilling techniques, drilling equipment, and associated procedures is essential for effectively planning and supervising drilling operations.
• Previous experience as a Night Drilling Supervisor on successful drilling campaigns.
• An unwavering commitment to safety is crucial in the oil and gas industry. Skills in risk management and the ability to implement safety protocols are essential.
• Hold up-to-date certificates in Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET), Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST), Well control certificates and an Offshore Medical Certificate.
• Knowledge of relevant industry regulation and standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and independently.
• Proficiency in drilling-related software and tools.
