Job summary

A national health service provider in Wales is looking for individuals to join their Newborn Hearing Screening Team. This role involves working both in hospital and community settings, performing screening duties for newborns. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, experience working with children, and be able to travel for work. This position requires reliable individuals willing to engage in ongoing training and development, with a pay range of £25,313 to £26,999 per annum pro rata.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen to work within the North Wales Region of Newborn Hearing Screening Wales, an All-Wales Programme, which provides a uniform service of high quality within an All-Wales policy and to All-Wales standards and protocols.

Based at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, you will work as part of a team participating in the hearing screening of newborn babies. You will undertake the full range of newborn hearing screening duties both in a hospital and community setting.

Main duties of the job

Duties include communicating with the parents throughout the process, baby handling, use of screening equipment and accurately recording clinical and test data relevant to the screening process, therefore good communication skills and experience of using a computer are essential. You must be a confident and reliable individual and possess the ability to work well under pressure.

Although the base site will be at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, you will also be required to work at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Ysbyty Gwynedd on a rota basis and to run clinics in the community. Therefore the successful candidate will need the ability to regularly travel between and work at other sites within the Region as needed.

The post is for 28 hours per week. The ability to work additional hours as needed is desirable. You will be required to work full time during the initial training period.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
