Job summary

CLCH Hertfordshire Adult Community Services - CLCH NHS Trust provides a range of Community Services, and the Hertfordshire Division is recruiting!

To join a wonderful team of therapy and nursing professionals in a 20 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit. To work with the team in providing specialist evidence based Occupational Therapy to patients with Stroke / Neurological conditions.

To engage in continuous professional development and share learning with the team in a culture of development, innovation and improvement.

Main duties of the job

To work as an active member of the Holywell inpatient therapy team which specialises in stroke and neurological conditions.

To support the OT team and wider multi-disciplinary team in developing the service to ensure integrated, evidence-based practice.

To provide specialist assessment and treatment of stroke and neurological conditions.

To provide advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, patients, carers and relatives.

To be responsible for a caseload of complex physical / cognitive and emotional needs and facilitate positive rehabilitation outcomes and timely co‑ordinated discharge plans.

To support across Hertfordshire bedded units as staffing requires.

You will be responsible for supervising members of staff and students.

To participate in a 7‑day service covering weekends on a rota basis.

Person Specification

Educational / Qualifications – Essential

  • Current AHP with UK HCPC registration
  • Experience of working with neurological patients in delivery of rehabilitation packages or in a rehab setting at Band 5 level
  • Documented evidence of professional development and reflective practice in relevant aspects of neurological rehabilitation (e.g. attendance at in‑service training sessions, reflective practice)

Desirable

  • Attendance at relevant post‑graduate neurological training courses e.g. Bobath, spasticity management, splinting, cognition and perceptual assessment, fatigue management
  • Experience of working in a neurological rehabilitation setting at band 6 level
Experience – Essential
  • Ability and experience of carrying out a comprehensive neurological occupational therapy assessment to formulate a comprehensive neurological treatment plan and goals
  • Knowledge and experience of using a wide range of therapeutic occupational therapy interventions for the treatment of patients with neurological conditions
  • Knowledge and experience of using a range of recognised outcome measures and goal setting skills as appropriate to the rehabilitation of patients with a range of neurological conditions
  • Good understanding of current NHS issues, professional standards, CPD, clinical governance
  • Able to work as an autonomous practitioner
  • Able to work with individuals and groups
  • Clinical problem‑solving ability
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practice
