A care support organization is seeking a waking night carer for a 15-year-old boy with complex needs. The role includes providing overnight care, assisting with the morning routine, and coordinating with the family. Ideal candidates should have night care experience and a driving license with their own car. Accommodation is provided during shifts. Competitive pay of £16–£19 gross per hour based on experience.
The night shift starts at 9.30pm and begins with a handover, then assisting and supporting Tom to get ready for bed and settle into his sleep system. Tom may want some time for a chat or to drift off to sleep; he will let you know. Otherwise, he will alert you via the monitor if he requires support at any point during the night. You are welcome to rest in the carer's bedroom. Each morning Tom prefers to be washed, dressed and ready for the day before breakfast; depending on the day’s plans, he may need a wake‑up call.
Our client Tom is 15 years old and lives with his Mum and Dad in their fully adapted home. Tom is a charming, sweet, and cheerful young man with a love of music, arts and crafts, and spending time with his family. Tom has cerebral palsy and complex care needs; he uses a wheelchair and is tube fed. He relies on others for health, care and medical needs. He uses a communication book, facial expressions, body language, and sounds to support communication. His dedicated care team works with his Mum and Dad, who are instrumental in his care, and they are seeking a waking night carer to join them.
