Job description
Multiskilled Maintenance Technician (Day Shift)

Location: Royston, Hertfordshire, UK

Salary: £45,589 plus bonus and benefits

This is a Monday – Friday days role working 42 hours per week.

The successful candidate will join an established Maintenance team within our top tier COMAH site, reporting directly to the Maintenance Lead.

A Multiskilled Maintenance Technician is required to ensure the safety and improve the reliability of manufacturing equipment and plant within the Noble Metals business. Noble Metals operates a vast range of equipment to produce various components from precious metals, including such techniques as melting, forging, rolling, wire drawing and welding.

Platinum Group Metal Services (PGMS) is one of four businesses within the Efficient Natural Resources Sector that manages, distributes, refines and recycles precious metals and fabricates products using precious metals and related materials. The business unit also manufactures platinum group metals, minor metal compounds, organometallics and fine metal powders for high technology applications, as well as providing a range of management services for platinum group metals.

The role

As a Multiskilled Maintenance Technician, you will help drive our goals by:

  • Working safely and following strict safe working procedures.
  • Providing a skilled execution of Planned, Reactive & Corrective Mechanical and Electrical maintenance activities to ensure the ongoing reliability of equipment across the plant.
  • Delivering effective problem solving and Electrical/Mechanical fault diagnosis skills.
  • Adhering to identified work priorities to ensure that customers and stakeholders are supported in their daily operational needs.
  • Interacting confidently with our CMMS, updating it with detailed reports.
  • Using technical drawings & operator manuals, schematic drawings and P&ID’s.
  • Conducting inspections, testing, adjustments, and monitoring tasks as required to maintain efficient plant and build‑in equipment reliability.
Key skills that will help you succeed in this role
  • Successfully completed electrical apprenticeship.
  • Must have completed a recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification: BTEC ONC/HNC, C&G Qualifications Parts 1 & 2, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Completed a City & Guilds Electrical Installation Parts One and Two or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds IEE Wiring Regulations 18th edition (BS7671).
  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics & OEM manuals, P&ID’s.
Desirable skills
  • Initial and periodic Electrical Inspection & Testing BS2391.
  • EX 01-04 trained.
  • Proven experience working with both relay logic and PLCs controlling machinery with an ability to fault‑find.
  • Understanding and experience of PLC control, robotic and automation systems.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Hold a valid MEWP licence.
